A 40-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of neglect after a young boy fell from a first floor window.
It happened just after 9.30am in Napier Road, Gillingham.
An air ambulance landed in nearby Gillingham Park and flew the boy to a London hospital for treatment.
His injuries were not described as being serious.
Police officers surrounded the property in Napier Road, the first floor window remained open.
A cordon was put around the house, which is split into three flats.
The front drive was littered with cigarettes and children's toys including a scooter and a mini drum kit.
A forensic officer took pictures inside the property.
Detectives told police officers to remove the police tape so children from the opposite Napier School did not become upset.
Police left Napier Road at around 12.30pm.
None of the immediate neighbours Kent Online spoke to witnessed what happened.
Police spokesman James Walker said: "The man remains in custody as inquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing."
