Man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after off-duty police officer stabbed in Strood

A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an off-duty police officer was stabbed in Strood.

The man, from Orpington, was arrested yesterday, following the assault in Commercial Road, Strood, during the early hours of Monday July 18.

Police say the victim had been visiting a nearby takeaway, where the suspect was involved in a verbal altercation.

The officer was airlifted to a London hospital with serious injuries and has since been discharged.
