Rochester man arrested after pedestrian dies in Basildon lorry accident

A man arrested after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a lorry has been released under investigation.

A 55-year-old man from Rochester was taken into custody following the incident at an industrial estate near Cranes Close, Basildon, Essex, on Friday.

Essex Police were called to the area just after 1pm.

An air ambulance was also called but a man in his 60s died at the scene.

The driver was arrested on suspicion of causing death by wanton and furious driving and drug driving.

He was released under investigation.
