A man arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed for a second time.

The 46-year-old was arrested by police on Sunday, July 12 near the victim’s home in Kinross Close, Princes Park, Chatham.

Ambulance crews were called to flats there just after 5.30pm, and alerted police.

He remained in custody for four days but was then released on bail. He had to go back to police on Wednesday this week, and detectives granted him bail again until September.

However, almost two weeks since his body was discovered, police have still not named the dead man.

Neighbours said he was a very talkative and friendly guy who seemed lonely.

He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ the King, in Dove Close, and the Rev Derek D’Souza said members of the congregation would be saying prayers for him.

He added: “If there is anything we can do to help them we will.”

A post mortem was carried out last week, but police have not revealed the cause of his death.

However, police said they continued to treated the death as suspicious.

This week, a spokeswoman confirmed the arrested man’s bail had been extended until September 9.
