A man has been charged after a teenager was stabbed in a town centre.
Police were called to the Chatham Express shop in the High Street just after 2pm last Thursday following reports of a disturbance.
Officers were then sent to nearby Hartington Street where a knife was recovered.
Two men, including the suspect, were injured and a 19-year-old man from London who was found with stab wounds was airlifted to a London hospital.
Ian Burroughs, of Luton Road, Chatham, has now been charged with robbery, possession of a bladed object in a public place and grievous bodily harm with intent.
The 53-year-old appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Saturday and was bailed, with conditions, to appear before Maidstone Crown Court on July 13.
Three other men from Chatham were also arrested in connection with the stabbing which sparked a huge emergency response.
The men, aged 19, 26 and 37, have all been bailed while inquiries continue until July 5.
Part of Hartington Street was taped off by officers while they launched an investigation.
It is believed the first incident broke out at the store and then moved to the street less than a mile across town where witnesses said a knife had been thrown into a garden.
