Chatham man charged in connection with stabbing at flat in Humber Crescent, Strood

A man has been charged and another arrested over a stabbing at a flat in Strood.

The incident is believed to have taken place at a property in Humber Crescent on Friday shortly after 2.30pm.

Two men have been arrested and one charged in connection with a stabbing at a flat in Strood

It was reported that two men entered the flat after being let in by a person believed to be known to them before an alleged assault took place.

The victim was taken to a London hospital and treated for wounds to his chest and fingers before being discharged.

Police have since arrested and charged Tommy Powell of Ansell Avenue, Chatham with causing grievous bodily harm with intent and with possession of a knife in a public place.

The 33-year-old was further charged with criminal damage, relating to damaging a police cell while in custody.

Powell appeared before Medway Magistrates’ Court on Monday and was remanded in custody.

He will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on July 13.

A second man, aged 32 from Strood, was also arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent and has been released on bail until July 7.
