Man dies after collision with car on M2 near Strood

A man has died after being involved in a collision with a car.

Traffic was gridlocked on the M2 yesterday due to the incident, and the coastbound carriageway was closed from Junction 1, Strood, to Junction 2.

Emergency services were called at around 6.40pm and a man in his 30s was confirmed deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

His death is not being treated as suspicious and a report is being prepared for the coroner.

The road reopened at 11.50pm.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Detective Sergeant Jamie Webb said: “While we are treating the death as non-suspicious, officers are appealing to any witnesses or anyone with relevant dashcam footage along the M2 or the surrounding roads at the time to contact us so that we can understand the full circumstances.”
