Man found lying in alleyway in Grosvenor Avenue Chatham dies later in hospital

A man who was taken hospital he was found lying in an alleyway in Chatham, has died.

The man, who has not been named but was from Rochester, was found at about 12.30pm yesterday after someone spotted him there and dialled 999.

Police cordoned-off the passageway in Grosvenor Avenue, opposite its junction with Blenheim Avenue, while paramedics tended to the man.

A blanket was put up to shield him from passersby while he was being treated as he had suffered a cardiac arrest.

It is understood he had not been attacked.

A police spokesman said: “Kent Police was called at about 12.30pm to a report of concern for welfare for a man in Chatham.

"Officers were called by paramedics from SECAS (South East Coast Ambulance Service) to an alleyway on Blenheim Avenue at the junction with Grosvenor Avenue.

The alleyway was cordoned off

"It is thought there are no suspicious circumstances."

The man was initially revived and taken to hospital, but it is understood his life support machine was switched off yesterday evening.

It is believed the man was in his 40s and was a father-of-two.
