Man knocked out after being punched in Esso petrol station, New Road, Chatham

A man was left unconscious after being punched to the ground and hitting his head on a kerb while queuing in the forecourt of a petrol station.

The man suffered two deep cuts to the back of his head in the incident which happened at the Esso service station in New Road, Chatham.

He was in the queue when he was confronted by another man who punched him. The victim was unconscious for 10 minutes.

The assailant is reported to have left the scene in the direction of Chatham railway station.

The attack took place just after 12.15am on Sunday, July 24 but details have only just been released.

Officers have arrested and bailed a 34-year-old man in connection with the incident but are still appealing for witnesses to come forward.
