A man attacked inside a Tesco store was left seriously injured and requiring urgent hospital treatment.

Police have since accused a man of causing grievous bodily harm following the incident at the Tesco Express shop in Frindsbury Road, Strood.

Michael Terry, of King Arthur's Drive in Rochester, appeared before Medway magistrates on Tuesday accused of causing GBH, two assault charges and one for harassment.

The 38-year-old, who is reportedly known to the victim, is alleged to have assaulted the man in the store at about 6.50pm on Saturday.

The victim, aged in his 40s, suffered a facial injury and was taken to hospital.

Terry is accused of attacking a woman inside the shop during the same incident.

He has since been charged with the GBH charge and one count of assault following the incident at the weekend.

He is also accused of assaulting the same victim last May and harassing him between May 2020 and January 2021.

Terry has been remanded in custody to next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on February 16.
