Police appeal for witnesses after a taxi driver was robbed in Eldon Street, Chatham

A taxi driver was left with a stab wound after trying to stop a man stealing a bag of cash from him.
The man got in the front seat of a taxi at 5.45am, yesterday in Ordnance Street, Chatham and asked to be dropped off in Eldon Street.
On arriving at the destination the suspect used a bladed object, believed to be a knife during an altercation with the taxi driver.
The victim tried to defended himself and was stabbed in the hand, leaving him with a minor injury.
Then the man stole a bag of cash and ran from the taxi in the direction of the Great Lines Heritage Park.
Police believe the suspect is a white man, of slim build, around 20-years- old and around 5ft 6ins tall.
He was wearing a black jacket with white stripes, dark jogging bottoms and had a scarf around his face.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
