A man had to be treated by paramedics after a fire at a flat in Gillingham.

He suffered the effects of breathing in smoke as a result of the blaze at the three-storey property in Britton Street.

It started in a kitchen and crews had to wear breathing gear before they entered the smoke-logged flat.

They were called to the scene at just after 6pm.
