A teacher's car was damaged after part of a historic 13th century city wall fell apart.

The medieval structure belongs to Rochester Cathedral and arrangements are being made to get it repaired as soon as possible.

The incident happened on a stretch of the medieval wall which crosses the cathedral's grounds.

On one side is a private road, King's Orchard, which is opposite property belonging to King's School.

Last month, a short section of the historic stone wall collapsed into the school's ground, falling onto a car which was parked beside it.

Simon Lace, chapter clerk at Rochester Cathedral, said: "The wall is part of the scheduled ancient monument, and we are talking to our architect, archaeologist and Heritage England about the emergency work needed to repair it.

"We are also of course in constant contact with the school. I hope to have a date for the repair work very soon."
