Medway and Maidstone runner Nathan Wilkins comfortably wins the Les Golding Memorial 10k

Nathan Wilkins of Medway and Maidstone AC won the Les Golding Memorial 10k at Herne Bay on Sunday.

Wilkins, who won the Romney Marsh 10k in his last outing, finished in a time of 36mins 32secs - a minute clear of the pack.

Following behind was Robert Carpenter (Ashford and District, 37.40) and Daniel Walsh (Istead and Ifield, 38.23).

The leading M50 master was Chris Lydon (Beckenham, 38.57) in fourth place and the M60 winner was Martyn Rouse (Invicta, 44.04).

Prominent locals included Bob Fursey (M45, 40.15) and Adrian Moody (M45, 40.31) of Medway and Maidstone; M45 Tony Piper (Dartford Road Runners, 41.32); M40 Reuben Burford (Dartford Harriers, 42.13) and M40 Wayne Hemingway (Larkfield, 42.24).

Natasha Dawson (Larkfield, 41.57) had a near three-minute cushion in the women’s race from Beckenham’s Helen Garrett and Invicta’s Vicky Talbot-Rosner.

Local women under 50 minutes were Sarah Shewell (Sevenoaks) and Sadie Forrest (Istead and Ifield) who just held off new W65 age grouper Tina Jones from Canterbury.
