The waiting is over for families of children who sat the 11 Plus in Medway last month.

Letters have been sent out today informing them if their youngster can go to grammar school next year.

In total, 2,430 children registered to sit the Medway Test, with 2,357 children actually sitting it.

The council has revealed that 687 Medway children achieved the minimum score, 23 per cent of the total Medway cohort for this year group of 2,962.

Cllr Mike O’Brien, in charge of children's services, said: "Moving from primary to secondary school is always a big step for all youngsters and I would like to wish them every success when they make the move next September."

Families of children who didn't pass can opt to take part in the review process and details of how to do this are included with the letters sent out today.

Medway Council would also like to remind all parents in Medway of children going to secondary school next year that the deadline for sending back application forms for secondary school admission in September 2014 is October 31.
