A viral video of mice running across a pub exposes a Wetherspoon is less than squeaky-clean.

Most people expect to see a pub brawl, but not one between two mice scuttling around, fighting over a dropped chip.

A video of the incident in Chatham was posted to The Thomas Waghorn pub's Facebook page.

Hannah Clark, who posted the video said: "Tried to have a cheeky lunch at Chatham Wetherspoons but unfortunately had to leave our food, as we had mice running around underneath our feet."

She said she told staff, and they closed off the area.

Her group was not given a refund and they left their food uneaten.

The video has been viewed more than 110,000 times.

Facebook user Charlotte Barritt said: "I was there too. Have reported it to environmental health. No response from Wetherspoons yet."

Maria Wright commented: "I have been there once and never again.

"I could smell mice so am not surprised about the video.

"It's not very clean in there."

In March, Dawn Gardiner hit out at The Thomas Waghorn, after spotting a mouse scuttling across the carpet.

She posted a video on Facebook of the mouse on Thursday, with the comment: "Little extra with our dinner tonight and when I told the staff they were rude.

"I mean you don't expect mice with your burger!"

The Thomas Waghorn has a level 5 food rating, which means it is "very good".

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: "When we were alerted to the situation we called a pest control technician.

"The technician has removed some rodents from the pub.

"We believe the issue stems from the property next door to the pub.

"We had issues when they were completing building works and we dealt with the situation.

"Building has once again commenced and it appears that this has resulted in some mice entering the pub.

"We are now fully alerted to the situation.

"The council’s environmental health team have been into the pub and today and given it the all clear."

Medway Council’s head of regulatory services, James Brown, said: “Our environmental health officers visited The Thomas Waghorn in Chatham on Monday, July 8 following a reported sighting of a mouse.

"Officers found no evidence of an infestation and found no imminent risk to public health.”

The council will continue to monitor the situation.
