Missing ice hockey star Andy Smith found safe

Missing ice hockey star Andy Smith has been found safe and well.

The 34-year-old is back at home with his family in Rainham, his former club Invicta Dynamos have confirmed.

They tweeted: "The Dynamos can confirm that Andy Smith has been located safe and well independently of today's search.

Andy Smith was last seen on Friday (12017718)

"THANK YOU to all who shared the appeal and especially to those who conducted a search today in torrential conditions.

"Please now respect the family's privacy at this time."

Police also thanked everyone who shared the appeal to help find Mr Smith.

The news he had been found broke not long after dozens of people braved torrential rain to search for him at Ambley Wood in Gillingham at around 6pm.

Fears had been mounting for the welfare of the former captain of Gillingham-based Invicta Dynamos, who had not been seen since Friday morning.

His former club earlier appealed for volunteers to take part in a search of Ambley Wood in Hoath Close.
