A new search is due to be underway for a missing teenager who hasn't been seen since a night out.

Ben Savage was enjoying a night with friends at the Tap N Tin nightclub in Railway Street, Chatham when he disappeared.

CCTV shows Ben had been in the Sun Pier area at 3:16am on Tuesday.

Several searches near the River Medway have been conducted by police and family members since then.

The latest was due to start today, from 1pm, with people meeting at the Crown pub in Rochester.

It comes as celebrities continue to back efforts to bring Ben home. Yesterday, This Morning host and TV presenter Phillip Schofield retweeted a KentOnline appeal with Ben's details.

TV star Davina McCall also re-tweeted Ben's Missing poster, as has comedian Joe Pasquale who has shopped in House of Fraser, where Ben's mum, Tara, works.

The Find Ben Facebook page is now up to 22,000 supporters, who have been sharing information.

There's been a heavy presence of emergency services by the River Medway, including police, forensics, fire crews and the coastguard.

Medway Coastguard said they had resumed their search of the river at 3.30pm yesterday, which were planned around low tides.

Areas covered included Upnor, Rochester, Strood, St Mary's Island, Gillingham Marina, Cuxton Marina.

But the focus remains on the Sun Pier area of Chatham.

There has also been a posters blitz, with images of Ben now on shops, plus Arriva buses, and even Hermes lorries, which make deliveries all over the UK.

A Twitter storm, to keep awareness high on social media, is taking place between 7-9pm tonight.

A post on Find Ben read: "Today is day six and we have covered buses, trains, coaches, delivery vans, hotels , tv , radio, paper and the internet...... you shouldn't be able to pop to the shop with out seeing Ben.

"But today is the day he comes home, we will not let it get to a full week."

Family and friends of Mr Savage have launched their own searches, including one nearby the Tap N Tin nightclub, plus handing out leaflets.

Police are now carrying out work to identify potential new locations to search, and to retrace Ben's steps leading up to his disappearance.

Mr Savage, who used to attend Holmesdale school in Snodland, is described as being 5ft 10in, of medium build and with short brown hair.

He is believed to have been wearing a black waist-length jacket with a zip on one arm, a grey T-shirt with a large white number on the front, dark blue skinny jeans and black trainers with white detail.

Anyone who may have seen Mr Savage after he left the Tap ‘N’ Tin nightclub in Railway Street, Chatham, at about 2.45am on December 6 is asked to get in touch with police on 101 quoting reference 06-0198.
