Officers have arrested 58 people after a summer crackdown on crime in Medway.

The operation has also led to knives and drugs being seized.

Police were also able to recover seven knives, visit eight addresses to carry out search warrants and make eight drug seizures, which included recovering suspected cocaine and heroin.

They arrested Ahmed Moborat after being called to Railway Street, Gillingham, at 11.17am on June 16, following a report of a man being stabbed.

The 18-year-old, of Byron Road, Gillingham, was arrested later that day and charged with wounding and with possession of a knife in a public place.

Officers also recovered a knife and Moborat has since been remanded in custody. He is due before Maidstone Crown Court on August 16.

On July 5, Charlie Lindley was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm following a report on June 2, where a person was allegedly assaulted and a car damaged in Robin Place, Chatham.

The 22-year-old, of Alamein Avenue, Chatham, was charged with several offences including assault by beating and was bailed to appear before Medway Magistrates’ Court on August 4.

Two men from Gillingham, aged 19 and 21, have also been arrested by officers following an assault and robbery in Seaton Road, Gillingham.

The incident happened on June 26. Both men are bailed to attend Medway Police Station on September 1.

On June 23, officers arrested four men on suspicion of grievous bodily harm. Weapons were also seized.

Police were called to disorder in The Fairway, Rochester, where a group of men were reported to have been fighting.

Sonny Whiting, 34, of The Tideway, Rochester, and Charlie Beaney, 20, of William Ash Close, Dagenham, Essex, have both since been charged with causing grievous bodily harm with intent, violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place.

Jerry Devlin, 24, of Stock Close, Rochester, is charged with violent disorder and causing grievous bodily harm.

All three men appeared before Maidstone Crown Court on July 25.

Devlin was remanded in custody while Whiting and Beaney were bailed. They are all due to attend the same court on December 12.

David Devlin, 57, and also of Stock Close, Rochester, was charged with threats to damage property. He is due before Medway Magistrates’ Court on August 3.

"We want people to enjoy working, visiting and living in Medway and to feel safe when in the towns, and our officers will continue to target those responsible for causing criminality across the district to ensure they are prevented in committing further offending."
