Former sports minister Tracey Crouch was among thousands who headed to Madrid to watch Liverpool take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final.

The Chatham and Aylesford MP and staunch Spurs fan was one of 70,000 English supporters who made the 1,000 mile trip to the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.

In the end Tottenham lost 2-0 to Jurgen Klopp's side, despite looking the more threatening side for much of the match - but Tracey said it was still worth the trip.

"Not the desired result but still an enormous privilege to be here watching Spurs in the #UCLfinal with so many fans from around the world," she tweeted on Sunday.

"It has been a great experience. Onwards to next season #COYS"

Prior to the match she tweeted a picture of her toenails which an 11-year-old Spurs fan neighbour painted navy blue with sparkles for good luck - and she spoke to KentOnline as she boarded her flight to Madrid.

The FA qualified coach had said: "I'm not going to make a prediction. It's a win win for Spurs.

"If we win that's fantastic but no one expected us to get there.

"I'm wishing all the fans back home a good game.

"We've got a lot of Spurs supporters in Medway and I just hope they all enjoy the game."
