A Kent MP has entered the debate on shirt sales after failing to get hold of an England No. 1 shirt.

Chatham and Aylesford MP was one of many people unable to snag her preferred Mary Earps shirt after the Football Association (FA) site sold out within five minutes.

Nike, who sponsor the national team, was criticised earlier this year for not stocking a shirt with Manchester United players name on the back.

The FA said it had an “unprecedented” demand when the shirt went on sale Monday at 8am.

Ms Crouch was one fan who tried to get the pink shirt but missed out and had to settle for a green one from the Nike website.

She said: “To think Nike thought Mary Earps shirt wouldn't sell.

“New stock dropped at 8am and all sold out on FA shop by the time I'd finished getting son ready for school.

“Managed to get one from Nike shop but selling fast and only in green – I wanted pink.”

It comes days after the Tory MP hit back at ex-footballer Joey Barton who made controversial comments about the women’s game.

The former Manchester City, Newcastle and one-cap England international ranted on X, saying “Women shouldn’t be talking with any kind of authority in the men’s game.

“Come on. Let’s be serious. It’s a completely different game. If you don’t accept that. We will always see things differently. The women’s game is thriving. Fantastic to see. I cannot take a thing they say serious in the men’s arena.”

Tracey Crouch replied to the tweet: “It's taken a while but it appears the green inker who wrote to me while sports minister has finally outed themselves.”
