A brand new car boot sale is set to launch in Rainham ahead of the summer season with a range of new safety measures in place.
It will open for traders and bargain hunters at a site in South Bush Lane, just off the A2, this Sunday.
The car boot sale replaces the popular Westmoor Farm Bootfair which is no longer going ahead due to the new secondary school being built on the site which is set to open in September 2021.
Declan Jewell said there is still very much demand for the fair and has been busy planning the new look operation in Rainham.
The 30-year-old site manager explained there will be some changes in how the day is run, with efforts made to ensure social distancing guidelines are followed.
"I have a one way system throughout so there is going to be no crossing over between stalls to remove close proximity contact," he said.
"We will be observing it and where we see there is any issue we will address it straight away."
Hand sanitiser will also be made widely available as will signage reminding customers to keep their distance.
Declan has also sourced portaloo facilities although he says they will be discouraging the use of these wherever possible in line with government guidelines.
At the moment there are around 80 traders signed up for the first bootsale but Declan hopes to bring in more in the future.
"I have to be careful because I'm not allowed a mass gathering," he added.
Rainham Bootfair will take place on South Bush Lane with sellers pitching up from 6am and punters allowed to enter the site from 7am.
