A planning application for a new jazz club has been submitted.
The proposed plans are for units 57 and 58 of the Dockside Outlet Centre, which used to be occupied by a large Sports Direct.
The application lays out changes to make it into a music and entertainment venue with an outdoor roof top terrace.
The opening hours that have been suggested are 10am to 2am Monday to Sunday, with the roof top terrace open until 10pm.
Centre manager of Dockside Outlet Centre, Anthony Sutton said: "We are looking to turn it into a unit that will be used for leisure, entertainment and food.
"It will not affect the centre's hours and will not be disruptive to other occupiers or residents. Other discussions have still got to be had.
"We want to improve leisure in the maritime area that will not be disruptive."
The plans have been submitted by Covell Matthew Architects Ltd on behalf of WD LTD, who also have planning permission to convert the Machine Shop No8 Building into a 30,000 sq ft leisure activity venue including a climbing wall.
Last year plans for a new gymnastics club, bigger Nando's and mini golf were approved.
