Youngsters can continue using a popular off-road bike track, if councillors follow planning recommendations.

The use of Deangate MX will be discussed at a meeting tomorrow. Keen biker Phil Harris runs the facility on a five-acre plot at the back of his home in Hoo after being given temporary permission last year.

Phil Harris is taking on planners to keep the track in his garden in Hoo

It was originally set up for private use, but now has members from all over the South East.

Planning officers have recommended that permission is approved, but with conditions which Mr Harris is already following.

The track must only operate one day a week – on Saturdays or Sundays – between the hours of 9am and 5pm.

No more than 30 bikes can use the track each day and no more than 15 can be on the track at any one time.

Mr Harris will also have to continue to ensure the bikes do not exceed certain noise levels.
