A paedophile who sexually abused a young child for more than two years has been jailed.
Graeme Mulock, from Strood, carried out the prolonged campaign against his victim until police launched an investigation in December 2018.
The 65-year-old of Yantlet Drive denied the allegations when he was interviewed.
But a court heard Mulock had been responsible for the abuse from December 1, 2016 until Christmas Day in 2018.
He carried out his abuse on the victim three times in the Rochester area.
Mulock denied the charges against him – four sexual offences and two counts of sexual assault of a child – but was found guilty by a jury after a trial at Maidstone Crown Court.
He was convicted on last Thursday and sentenced to prison for three years and six months the following day at the same court.
He will be put on the sex offenders register for life.
DC Judith Edwards, of Kent Police’s Vulnerability Investigation Team, said: "Mulock acted despicably by targeting a vulnerable child over a period of two years.
"He is undoubtedly a danger to children and it is only right that he is now serving a prison sentence.
"I would like to take this opportunity to commend his young victim who has shown considerable bravery in assisting us to bring Mulock to justice."
An NSPCC spokesperson added: “Mulock’s actions will have had a devastating impact on the life of his victim and we hope the child is receiving all available support to help them recover from what they’ve been subjected to.
“Child sexual abuse can cause trauma and pain that lasts a lifetime. It’s vital that anyone who is concerned a child might be at risk of abuse seeks help.
