Person hit by bus in Luton Road, Chatham

A teenage boy is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a bus in Chatham.

The crash happened in Luton Road just after 3pm, near the pedestrian crossing opposite Luton Junior School.

The 18-year-old victim was flown to a London hospital by air ambulance, which landed on the nearby recreation ground.

Officers from Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now appealing for anyone who saw the incident to get in contact.

Witnesses are asked to call the SCIU on their dedicated appeal line on 01622 798538 or via email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk quoting reference 19-0791.

Luton Road was closed for several hours as police collision investigators examined the scene. The road was reopened just after 7pm.
