The latest edition of the Medway Messenger is in the shops now with all the latest news, pictures and sport.

Tommorrow sees the arrival of another supermarket giant in Strood town centre - Asda is taking over Netto. We've got a fantastic competition to give away £150 to spend at the new store.

Our main story tells how a rugby player has vowed to never play again after booting a rival's head 'like a penalty kick'.

Inside, we speak to the Rochester voice coach who played peacemaker between two warring familes in a scene straight out of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. We also reveal the black widow spider found at Chatham Docks is expecting 450 babies, but don't worry - she's already at London Zoo!

Going Out has two pages of all the latest news on the local entertainment scene, including an Indian-themed exhibition at Rochester Art Gallery.

The week's TV highlights are in Box Clever and there are quizzes, crossword and Sudoku on our Coffee Break.

Sport has the reaction to Gillingham's 2011-12 fixtures and tells how the club faces stiff competition to sign striker Danny Kedwell.

All this and lots more in the latest edition of the Medway Messenger - pop out and pick up your copy today.
