Pixie Lott has been catching up with kmfm ahead of the release of her new album.

The singer sat down with kmfm breakfast presenters Garry and Chelsea to chat about her new record Encino.

Pixie rose to fame in 2009 with her hit debut album Turn It Up and her singles Boys and Girls and Mama Do (Uh Oh, Uh Oh) both reached number one on the UK Singles Chart.

Her 2011 album Young Foolish Happy gave her another number one hit, About Tonight, and her self-titled album Pixie Lott was released in 2014.

Next Friday (September 27), the star will be putting out her first album in a decade, Encino, which took five years to create.

Pixie told kmfm: “It’s been such a long time since I’ve put an album out, so to be back with a full album, a body of work that I’ve been crafting over five years feels amazing.

“We’ve got some shows coming up as well so to be performing it live to people just feels the best.

“I feel really lucky that people that have supported me from the start have been around and waiting for this new album, but also throughout the years I have done a few different projects like acting and TV stuff so I’ve got to meet people through different projects which has been really fab.

“And hopefully with this record I’ll get to meet new people because it’s a completely different sound to what I’ve put out before.”

Pixie, who is originally from the Bromley area, made her acting debut in 2010 in the Nickelodeon film Fred: The Movie.

More recently, in 2016, she starred in the UK production of the play Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

She was also a coach on The Voice Kids UK between 2017 and 2023.

Pixie says her new album is “very organic, real, raw and authentic”.

She explained: “I was craving that authentic live musician vibe so I really honed in on that for this album.

“I’ve learnt a lot of things and hopefully grown along the way which is what this album is all about...”

“I can’t wait to get it on the road. I was kind of releasing singles and stuff but then decided I really wanted to do a full album and go back to why I love music and make the album I’ve always wanted to.

“That’s why we took so long to make it but I’m so happy that it’s finally done and out there in the world.

“For my previous albums I was working with lots of different producers and writers every single day, but this was made in a completely different way.

“It was just us in a room in a studio in Encino in California. It’s the first time I've made an album with just a couple of people and over a long period of time.

“It was such a freeing experience and I loved making an album in this way.

“When I first released music I was 18 and I’ve learnt a lot of things and hopefully grown along the way which is what this album is all about.”
