A man is in hospital after an alleged assault in the early hours of this morning.

Kent Police was called to Mount Road, Rochester, just before 1.50am today, to reports of an assault in progress.

The victim, believed to be a local man, was taken to a hospital in London where he is currently in a stable condition.

A 25-year-old man, from Gillingham, has been arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody.
