A man and a woman have been taken to hospital after an alleged assault.

Police were called to Chatham Grove, Chatham, at 12.30pm today to a report a man and a woman had been assaulted.

The man sustained injuries believed to be minor while the woman's are believed to be more serious injuries though not life threatening.

The air ambulance team were also called and noted a number of bodily injuries, including to the head and stomach.

The pair were taken to King's College Hospital in London by road.

A police spokeswoman said: "At this early stage inquiries into the incident, and to establish the circumstances around it, are ongoing."
