Rumours of armed police turned out to be a lane closure for a broken down police car.
A police vehicle broke down in a live lane on the A289 Wainscott Bypass at around 3.30pm yesterday.
The Londonbound lane was closed off to allow for recovery of the car.
The closure caused tailbacks to Strood and Chatham in the run up to Friday night rush hour traffic.
