The Strood-bound side of Rochester Bridge was closed for an hour early this morning amid concerns for a man seen on the wrong side of the railings.

Kent Police was called at 3.45am after receiving reports of the distressed man and fears for his wellbeing.

The man was brought to safety, and the bridge then re-opened at 4.37am.

A portion of the bridge was closed this morning.

The man was later handed into the care of ambulance services.

Ambulance services have confirmed that they attended alongside Police, and have taken the man from the scene to a place of safety.
