Officers are appealing for witnesses following a burglary at a petrol station.

The garage on the north-bound side of Main Road, Chattenden, was broken into at around 1.45am yesterday.

Three masked men are reported to have broken into the shop and stolen cash from a till.

The raid happened at the Jet Garage. Picture, Google Maps.

They then left the shop and are believed to have used a car to drive away.

It was initially thought a black Mondeo, which failed to stop for police and was pursued from Medway to Longfield, was involved, but officers say they have now ruled this vehicle out of their investigation.

The Mondeo driver did eventually stop and then reversed at speed into the police car.

The suspect then drove off and two officers in the patrol car suffered slight whiplash but were otherwise uninjured.

Police have issued descriptions of the three men thought to have been involved in the petrol station burglary.

Police and ambulance crews were called to the scene at around 10.30pm last night. Stock picture.

The men are white and of medium build.

Two men were wearing dark coloured hooded tops along with dark trousers and one man had a green or brown jacket on with red gloves.

All three men were wearing balaclavas with baseball hats with the hoods on their tops worn up.

One man had an electric screwdriver and crowbar, which were used to help break into the shop.

Anyone with information can call police on 01634 792209 quoting reference number 14-0054, or to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
