Police investigate reported rape in Maidstone Road, Rochester

Forensics and police officers are at the scene of a reported rape in Rochester.

A large police cordon was spotted near Wake Road this morning.

Police have since confirmed they are investigating an alleged sex attack.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police is investigating a rape which is reported to have happened between 2am and 3.38am on Monday 28 August 2017 in Maidstone Road, Rochester.

"Enquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.

A supervisor at the Shell garage arrived for work at 11am to find uniformed police officers at the scene.

He was told they have been there since about 6am.

He said: "It looked as though they were focusing on footage about 2.20am."

He added that "a fairly lengthy" piece of the embankment opposite the garage had been taped off.

The garage is open for business as usual.

"I asked what was going on but they were giving nothing," he added.
