A GANG of Eastern Europeans, including a middle-aged woman and a mother cradling a baby, have embarked on a spate of burglaries throughout the Medway area snatching thousands of pounds worth of cash and jewellery.
In the last four weeks the group of five women, three men and a toddler, have struck a total of 11 small corner shops, newsagents and post offices - and have successfully raided eight of them. The thieves, who range in age from 20 to a woman in her 50s, are believed to be Kosovans, all with black hair speaking in pigeon English and the women wearing long dark robes.
They usually operate by entering through back and side doors and while they mill around inside distracting staff, one creeps upstairs to reap their haul. Goods stolen are usually easily concealed and it is thought the unlikely gang depart on foot.
Anyone has has further information is asked to contact police on 01634 884252 or Crimestoppers on 08000 555111.
