Nearly 200 homes affected by power cut in Strood

Homes and businesses in Strood have been left without power this morning.

Engineers are in the High Street to investigate the issue.

UK Power Networks website says: "We became aware of this power cut at 11:16. We’re sorry for any disruption this may have caused you.

UK Power Network were sent out to the High Street

"We didn’t know in advance there would be a power cut, but now that we know, our teams will do everything they can to get your power back quickly.

"Engineers in our control room have switched some customers power back on in your area. To get everyone’s power back on we may need to attend to investigate and make repairs.

"We’ll continue to update you until everyone’s power is back on."

The company has also advisesd people that food in their fridge should keep for between 6 and 8 hours and 15-24 hours in the freezer if you keep the doors closed.

Electricity is expected to be back on between 1pm and 2pm.
