Thousands of fans at Priestfields were plunged in to darkness while watching the Gills take on Leyton Orient.

Players were led off the pitch to the changing rooms in the 78th minute when the stadium lost power.

The game continued just a few moments later when the generators kicked in but hundreds of people in the area are still without electricity.

According to UK Power Network, as of 10pm 487 customers have been affected from Brompton to Twydall and as far south as Hempstead.

A fault in an electricity cable underground has caused the power cut.

Power is expected to come back between 1am and 2am.

Customers affected have been advised to only call UK Power Network is they are in danger or notice any damaged equipment.
