A car appears to have come off the M2, prompting delays on the motorway.

An accident on the M2 coastbound from J2 A228 Sundridge Hill, Strood / Rochester, to J3, Chatham / Rochester, caused queuing traffic, as the incident was dealt with, traffic site Inrix reports.

Pictures of the scene show a red car on a grassy verge, with a small amount of debris near it, and a section of the road shut off.

All lanes have now reopened.

Kent Police has been approached for comment.
