Two cash machines targeted in the Hempstead Valley ram-raid

Police have recovered a digger in a field following a ram-raid at a shopping centre in the early hours of this morning.
An investigation is underway after two cash machine from the Kent Reliance building society at Hemsptead Valley in Gillingham were targeted by thieves.
One machine was left at the scene of the incident which happened at about 3.15am. The second is believed to be in a flat bed van also used for the raid.
The digger used was recovered nearby off Hempstead Valley Drive .
Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate is conducting inquiries to establish the circumstances.
At present no arrests have been made and civil engineers are assessing the buildings for structural damage.
Detective Inspector James Derham said: "There are numerous lines of inquiry we are actively pursuing however we are keen to hear from anyone who has information that can assist us.
"The digger attended the scene alongside a flatbed van, which we are yet to locate and was loaded with the stolen ATM.
"Its plates had been removed and anyone who saw a vehicle in the area fitting this description is asked to get in contact with us. We can be contacted by calling 01634 792209 quoting 20-0101."
