The granddaughter of a pensioner who was left fighting for his life after a hit-and-run incident in Rainham, has renewed an appeal to find the driver.

Thomas Davis, 85, is recovering in a London hospital after suffering serious injuries as he crossed the A2 at London Road.

Nicole Sawhney, who has visited her granddad every day, said: “Thankfully, he is very fit and active for his age. Anyone else would not have survived.

Mr Davis was taken to King’s Hospital with nine broken ribs, fractured vertebrae, bleeds on his brain and severe bruising.

It happened outside the Premier Inn at about 11.20pm on Friday, April 11. Police have been looking for the driver of a small car, possibly silver.

The hunt also continues for the driver who knocked a teenager off his motorbike and then drove off.

Ricky Knowles, 18, broke his kneecap and a hand and will not be able to work for six weeks after the incident in City Way, Rochester, a week ago.

Mr Knowles, who is a marshal at Buckmore Park, was on his way home to Tamar Drive, Strood, when the crash happened.

As he was thrown to the ground, he looked up to see the motorist driving away in a small grey hatchback, similar to a Ford Fiesta.
