Fire crews battle kitchen blaze in Cromer Road, Strood

Residents had to be evacuated from their home after their kitchen went up in flames in the early hours.

Two fire engines attended a property in Cromer Road, Strood, at around 1.16am.

The blaze is believed to have started accidentally due to an electrical fault.

No injuries were reported and the residents were able to be safely evacuate after being alerted by a smoke alarm.

They were offered support and advice from KFRS’ volunteer response team.

Crews left the scene shortly after 2.30am.

Following the incident, crews are reminding people to check their electrical appliances are in good working order and to have smoke alarms on each floor of a property, which should be tested weekly.
