We all know how important everybody's vote is in the forthcoming general and local elections - but once you've made your decision how can you escape the political bombardment?

Nucleus Arts Centre is a little corner of colour on an otherwise same-old Chatham High Street and makes for a quaint hideaway to enjoy afternoon tea.

If the weather is fine you can sit outside and still be away from the noise and bustle of the town. But if not, a shabby-chic tearoom awaits.

With multi-coloured chairs, utensil holders fashioned out of Lyle’s Golden Syrup tins and kitsch flowery cups and saucers – no two the same – elaborate wallpaper and elegant glassware. It was as quirky as it was warm and welcoming.

The centre also houses the largest studio complex in North Kent, with over 45 Artists working there, a conference centre, kiln and analogue dark room.

The current exhibition at the centre is Merry, Moody and Mean by Sophie Jongman and Peter Reeds.

It is all about a celebration of a passion for life and runs until May 14.
