A2 shut both ways after crash

The A2 is now fully open in Strood after a crash.

The road was earlier completely shut between Gravesend Road and Rede Court Road.

Police were directing traffic, but traffic is now back to normal.

Drivers should expect delays

It is understood a van and a car collided about 100 yards from the petrol station and the van, a food delivery vehicle, ended up on its side.

Firefighters from the nearby Strood fire station were called out to the scene to make it safe, but said no one was seriously injured during the smash.

Everyone had managed to get out of their vehicles by the time the crew arrived arrived.

They were called out at about 7.40am and left the scene at about 8.30am, but the road was kept closed until the vehicles could be recovered.

Kent Police said they were was called at bit earlier at 7.20am to a report of a collision involving a car and a van on Watling Street, near Strood.

Officers were in attendance along with ambulance workers.
