Grain Road will be closed from midnight to 4am to recover an overturned lorry

A road was closed overnight to recover a lorry which toppled over into a ditch.

The heavyweight vehicle was spotted overturned in Grain Road, Grain.

Medway Highways shut the stretch of road between Lower Stoke and the railway crossing, from midnight until 4am to remove the vehicle.

Grain Road will be closed from midnight to 4am.

Kent police spokesman James Walker said: "We were called to a report that a lorry had become stuck in a ditch in Grain Road, Rochester, at 5.45am.

"No serious injuries were sustained from the incident however the driver was taken to a local hospital for treatment to injuries that were not described as serious.

"The scene was left in the care of the local highways authority and recovery for the lorry is being arranged."

The road re-opened on Tuesday at 4am.
