A man has been charged with robbery and attempted robbery after allegedly threatening people with weapons to hand over the keys to their vehicles.

Daryl Cook, 29, has also been charged with possession of a bladed article after reportedly threatening a man with a knife.

Police in Medway were called to the Shell petrol station in Maidstone Road, Rochester, at about 9.30pm last Saturday to reports of a robbery.

Officers were called to the garage after it was reported a man had been threatened with what is believed to have been a knife, and his wallet and car keys were stolen.

Officers were also called to reports of an attempted robbery after 11.45am the following day in Lester Road, Chatham.

It was reported a woman driver was threatened with a baseball bat for her car keys, but the offender left empty-handed.

Cook, of Symons Avenue, Chatham, appeared at Medway Magistrates' Court on Saturday where his case was committed to Maidstone Crown Court.

Cook was granted bail and he will next appear at the crown court on Friday, August 2.
