He’s used to pushing cars - he’s a car salesman - but Rocky Troiani is going to find another type of motor a little harder to shift off the forecourt next month.

The 45-year-old strongman from Rochester will attempt to pull a gigantic 25 ton truck over a distance of 25 metres, in a mammoth effort to help raise money for a mum with incurable cancer.

Donations have poured in to help Rebecca Watts, from Larkfield, create a lifetime of memories for her two young sons - Alfie, 11, and Mason, two - after she was told the fatal disease had been found in her gall blader, ovaries and liver but could not be treated.

And now Rocky is joining the fight.

“I just had to do something,” said Rocky. “All I kept thinking was she’s not going to see her kids go to school, or get married.

“If we can just create a few good days out, I’ll feel like I’ve done something that needs to be done.”

Rocky, who lives in Medway Bridge Marina, will attempt the challenge at Evolution Strength and Fitness gym in Aylesford, on Sunday May 24 - and is currently undergoing a gruelling training regime.

At 15 stone he’s no lightweight, but he's still several stone lighter than the top strongmen who normally attempt to pull such weights.

“My body weight is half that of the World’s Strongest Man competitors, but I’ve had some good advice from some really top strong men,” he said.

“My hands are blistered from pulling ropes, but it’s all worth it.”

NYR Neil Yates Recovery in Snodland have donated their truck to be used in the challenge, which is also being sponsored by Purfleet Truck Wash.
