A second man has been arrested in connection to the shooting of a robber who was part of Kent's biggest heist.
On Thursday, police began investigating the violent attack on Chatham man Paul Allen, who carried out part of the £53m Securitas robbery, in Tonbridge in 2006.
A man, aged 28 was arrested yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder and firearms offences.
This followed the arrest of a man, in his 50s, who was taken in to custody by police earlier in the day, for the same offences.
Both have since been bailed to return on a date in mid-August.
Police were called to Paul Allen's home in Malvern Drive, Woodford Green London after11pm on Thursday.
Reports claimed six bullets were fired through a conservatory window.
The 41-year-old suffered gunshot wounds and was taken to hospital where his condition remains critical.
He is notorious for the Tonbridge heist, which saw him and a gang of men steal millions of pounds from a Securitas van.
At the time he was living in Hunterfield Close, Chatham.
Detectives from Trident and Area Command investigate and retain an open mind as to motive.
Detective Chief Inspector Nicky Arrowsmith of Trident said: “This investigation remains ongoing and officers continue to follow a number of lines of enquiry.
“We are still appealing for any witnesses or anyone who has information to come forward and speak to police.
“The shooting took place at a residential property in Malvern Drive. Were you in Malvern Drive around that time? Did you see anything unusual or possibly the suspect fleeing the scene?”
Anyone who saw this incident or has cctv/dashcam footage is asked to call Trident on 101 quoting 9891/11JUL
Or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
