Drivers faced long delays this morning following a serious crash.

The accident involving two silver cars happened on the A228 Formby Road, Halling.

The road was closed in both directions at the junction with Kent Road while police investigated the circumstances.

It reopened just before midday.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at 8.15am following a two-car collision in Formby Road, Halling.

"The road is currently closed and motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.

"No serious injuries have been reported."
