A chirpy sheep took the new guidelines on outdoor exercise a little too far and had to be guided back to his pen.

Officers were called to Hempstead Road, Gillingham shortly after 8am following reports of a rogue sheep on the loose.

The woolyback was seen wandering in the middle of the road and concerns were raised for his safety.

Fortunately he had not flocked far and officers were able to locate the missing sheep on arrival.

However, the lairy lamb did not come quietly and had to be walked back on a dog lead.

He was then safely returned to his owner.
