The Environment Agency has advised the highest tide level will be at 12.45pm today and flooding will be possible in the two hours before or after.

They have advised people to be careful walking by the estuary as large waves and sea spray could be dangerous.

A Severe Weather Emergency Protocol has also been imposed by Medway Council which means emergency accommodation is open to rough sleepers.

Those needing accommodation should go to Kingsley House in Balmoral Road, Gillingham, today and tomorrow by 5.15pm.

Water has been collecting at Riverside Tavern in Canal Road, Strood, which flooded back in October.
